Frequently Asked Questions

What paper is used for prints?

All of my photographs are printed on Canson Rag 100% cotton paper that has a weight of 308 gsm. This is archival quality paper that will last over 200 years and are 100% cotton, acid, and lignin-free.

Framing Material & Process

Frames are works of art entirely handcrafted from either walnut or maple solid wood. There are four finish options: Bright White Maple, Natural Maple, Red Mahogany Walnut, or Solid Black Maple. The artwork is framed with museum grade 99% UV-filtering acrylic. Framing is done in a shadowbox style where the print is set to the back of the frame and off-set with a spacer between the print and the acrylic.

If you will be hanging your art in a space with a lot of light and reflection, we recommend upgrading to Tru Vue Optium Museum Acrylic®. The acrylic is scratch-resistant, anti-reflective and static-free. Extra Large sized prints are printed edge to edge and are framed without a mat board. All other frames are completed with a 3” mat.

Care instructions

To ensure the longevity of your loose photographic print we recommend the following:

Keep your print out of direct sunlight.

Have it framed by a professional framer with an archival quality mat board and lightweight UV blocking acrylic.

Hanging instructions

I recommend that you avoid using picture wire as this can damage the structure of the frame. Instead, I use French cleat hangers because they are sturdy and simple to install.

Your premium Black Label frame will arrive with a pre-assembled wooden half-cleat attached to the frame, an unattached 45-degree matching wood cleat, and screws for installation.

The following instructions on how to install your frame can also be found on the Simply Framed website.

Measure across the width of your frame and mark its center.
Hold the frame to the wall at the desired position (enlist a friend to help if your piece is too large for you to do this alone)
Lightly mark the position of the center of the frame on the wall with pencil. Measure the distance from the center of your picture frame to the bottom of the attached cleat.
On the wall, measure the distance determined in Step 3 down from the mark made in Step 2. Mark with an X in light pencil.
Now measure the width of the unattached cleat to find its center point. Line the cleat up on the wall so that the cleat’s center point intersects with the X you made in Step 4.
Be sure to position the cleat so the ridge to hold your picture is facing up and out from the wall. Use a level to guide you, and attach the cleat onto the wall, keeping the screws loose for now.
Before tightening, recheck the cleat is level then tighten your cleat firmly to the wall.
Hang your frame on the cleat.

The dimensions below refer to the exterior dimensions of the framed artwork. Please note: Small, Medium and Large sized prints are framed with a traditional mat board. The Extra Large sized print is printed edge to edge and framed without a mat board.

Shipping

Typical production time is 4 to 6 weeks for a framed print and 2 to 8 business days for a loose print. Please expect additional time for shipping and delivery post production.

Please note: During peak periods framing turnaround times may be extended. Please contact me for more information.

You will receive order and shipping confirmation via email.

Returns

All sales are final. I’m unable to accept returns or exchanges because all prints are custom-made to order.

Please take care to double check your order details and shipping address are correct. No adjustments or cancellations can be made once your order is placed including changes to the shipping address.

If your print has been damaged in transit please notify us at hello@alyfickphotography.com within 7 days of receiving the shipment. Please make sure to open your package within this time.

Please keep all the original packaging and the print as we may require photos, the original print, or both to process your claim.

As the creator of each photographic artwork, I retain the copyright of the artworks despite the sale of the print. By purchasing a print, this does not grant you rights to reproduce or replicate these works for your own personal or commercial benefit.
